Superlative Sain Discusses His New Project, “Growth: The Visual”

What was your inspiration for your new project, Growth?

Last March, I dropped an 6-song EP titled Growth and I wanted to release a visual to go along with it. I figured it would be a great opportunity to emphasize the meaning behind the EP if there was a visual to follow along with it.

How long have you been working on the visual for Growth?

Around the end of December last year I started brainstorming ideas for what to include in my visual for Growth. I think the concept of creating a visual for the song was always in the back of my mind, but it only really all came together early this year.

Has COVID-19 had any affect on the progression of this project?

The hardest part about the pandemic for me is not being able to perform live for my fans. In normal circumstances, I like to do a bunch of shows before a big release so I can interact with my audience before the release drops, but obviously I can’t do that right now because we’re in the midst of a pandemic. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to record at a studio that is taking all necessary COVID precautions so that artists like myself are able to record their music safely during the pandemic.

What’s your favorite song on the EP?

My favorite song has to be “EX” because it’s the only song that I have written that has taken me over 5 years to complete from start to finish. It talks about a variety of situations from 3-4 previous relationships but is blended into one to make it seem like the song is only about one person. The song is basically the personification of multiple experiences with different people and how important it is to always be moving forward with life.

What would you like your listeners to get out of this release?

The big takeaway from this project is that with everything you do, there is always room for growth and improvement. I want my fans to be able to take this message and apply it to their own personal lives. The visual goes into detail about the importance of pushing past life’s uncertainties and challenges and the importance of always looking forward.

What else do you have planned for the rest of 2021?

Right now, I have about 5 songs lined up for this year ready to be released. I’m also going to be on a few features this year as well, so keep an eye out for those!

Growth will be out everywhere on Friday!
